OSU was the third nationally ranked team Wright State faced in two weeks. No one, not even the coach expected a win in this game. That was not what this game was about, although it would have been nice. But could WSU stay with OSU?

The Lady Raiders were outmatched in the paint, with OSU having four players 6-2 or taller, including Junior Jantel Lavender. Lavender is ninth nationally hitting 22.9ppg. She gets a lot of help from Sophomore Samantha Prahalis who has 9.1 assists per game, making her second in the nation. The Raiders were able to hold both of these players below those averages.

Senior Erica Richardson gave WSU it's only lead in the game at 18:54 in the first half with a layup giving WSU a 2-0 lead. The Lady Raiders would trail OSU for the rest of the game. By the end of the half, OSU had a comfortable 22 point lead, doubling up WSU 44-22. The Raiders gave up 17 points on 14 turnovers and were beaten in the paint points, 24-8 by Ohio State. The rebounds however were even at 15 each for the half.

Wright State shot 32.1% (9-28) in the half, including seven points from Richardson. Richardson also led the team with 4 rebounds in the half. Junior Ta-myra Davis was right behind her with six points and 3 boards as well as a steal.

The 2270 fans watched as the second half started with a Davis layup. However the closest Wright State would come to OSU was being down 18 points, 46-28 at the 17 minute mark. The Lady Raiders managed to only shoot 33.3% (18-54) in the game to OSU 63% (34-54). The only category Wright State lead in this game wasn't a good one - turnovers. The Raiders gave the ball up 20 times to 17 for OSU, for 28 OSU points.

OSU controlled the boards 39-24; had 12 steals to the Raiders 6; and hit 4-7 (57.1%) from beyond the arc compared to 2-12 (16.7%) for the Raiders. In the end Ohio State got an easy 84-47 win. The last meeting of these two teams, also in Columbus, saw an OSU victory as well. That time the score was 79-48.

Davis lead the WSU scoring with 15 points as well as rebounds with seven. Richardson finished with 12 points and six boards. Almost every WSU player scored. However, OSU was too much for the team to handle.

These games against ranked teams are not games that you expect to win. In three games this month against ranked teams this was the highest ranked team and the worst score. That shouldn't be a surprise either. The Lady Raiders have lost to the three ranked teams by an average of 25 points per game. Rather these games are for the Raiders to test their plays and work on improving their skills. Hopefully we will see great results in a just a few weeks when Horizon League play begins.

Now however, the Lady Raiders need to practice and work on their mistakes before a quick trip to Boston Massachusetts. They will fly out on Saturday and return home Sunday, after playing Boston College (5-5) on Sunday afternoon at 1pm.
