With the news that the Lady Raiders have lost Senior Guard Charne Dixon probably for the season, a change in the starting lineup was needed. Sophomore Maria Bennett got the call. Bennett opened the scoring, hitting a three at the 19:41 mark. However in less than 2 minutes, Robert Morris had grabbed the lead, 4-3 and the battle began. Although the Raiders tied the game four times in the half the Colonials never gave back the lead and finished the half with a nine point lead, 33-24.

The first half was a poor showing for the Lady Raiders. RMU owned the boards, 17-8 had five steals to Wright State's three and had 13 points off of 12 WSU turnovers. The Lady Raiders shot 40.9% (9-22) in the half, lead by Bennett and Junior Ta-myra Davis, both with six. Wright State three points shooting however was at 42.9% (3-7) and this shooting would come into play ion the second half.

Was it getting used to playing in the McLin Gym? Maybe thoughts of Thanksgiving instead of Basketball? Maybe the Coach gave an inspired halftime talk. Whatever it was a different time came out for the second half. A team willing to fight to win this game. The Raiders fought to come back and a Davis layup at the 10:33 mark tied the game. Senior Kanisha Wards three point shot gave the raiders a three point lead, but shooting from the line let RMU tie the game with nine and a half minutes. This battle continued right down to the wire, when with 56 seconds left the lady Raiders grabbed the lead for good on Senior Erica Richardson's layup. At the buzzer, the Raiders get the win, 58-54.

Remember the first half stats? Those 12 turnovers, well Wright State finished the game with 14 total, just 2 in the second half. They grabbed 14 rebounds and had ten assists in the second half. The Raiders played hard to get this win. They shot 40.4 %( 21-52) had eight steals and two blocked shots. They also spread the defense, shooting 8-18 from beyond the arc (44.4%).

Wright State finished with three players hitting eleven points each, Davis, Ward and Sophomore Molly Fox. Richardson and Fox also each grabbed four rebounds. It was a team effort. One they had to fight hard to win.

The Wright State women now get ready for a very tough six game December schedule. Only one game, the next one is at home. On Dec 2nd at 7pm the nationally ranked Vanderbilt women will come to the Nutter Center to play. This will be the toughest challenge to date for the women. Come out and watch one of the best teams in the country in women's basketball!

NOTES:

Senior Charne Dixon is on crutches. According to officials she is probably lost for the season due to the knee injury suffered against Akron

Before the game, Athletic Director Bob Grant presented Coach Bridgett Williams the game ball from the Akron game, which was her 100th win at WSU. She is only the second women's coach to achieve that.
