Youngstown State put up a battle in the first half and with a free throw took the lead with 12:38 left in the half. Junior LaShawna Thomas answered with two baskets to get the lead back 14-13 at the 11:18 mark.

YSU would keep the game close during the first half, especially from the Charity Stripe, hitting 10 for 15 from the line. Although YSU would close within one point with seven plus minutes remaining, they would not get the lead. Junior Tanni Scott entered the game with four minutes remaining and changed the intensity of Wright States play. She immediately sank five points and got an assist to help the Lady Raiders go into the locker room with an eight point lead, 29-21.

Youngstown could only muster 26.3% (5-19) shooting in the half. Wright State lead in rebounds, 20-12, assists 6-1 and picked up six points off YSU's 12 turnovers in the half.

Junior LaShawna Thomas, during the half scored 12 points, which made her the 17th woman player in WSU history to reach that mark. She also grabbed four rebounds and a steal. Scott made five points and grabbed five boards. She also grabbed one steal and an assist in her four minutes of play. Scott just had an emergency appendectomy on Feb 20th, but after the game said she is fine.

The second half saw the raiders take complete control of the game. They would double up YSU by 25 points, 50-25 with 11 minutes to play. Although YSU would not give up, the closest they would come to the raiders was 18 points twice, including finishing the game down by that number, 61-43.

Thomas lead all scorers with 20 points. She also had five rebounds, three assists and one steal. She was named the US Army Player of the Game for her efforts. Senior Erica Richardson finished with ten points and six rebounds. Scott finished the game with 15 minutes of play but providing an important spark for the women and getting nine points, a career high, and six rebounds. She also had two assists and a steal.

The Raiders shot 50% (23-46) for the game to YSU hitting 32.5% (13-40. Although WSU had 28 turnovers, Youngstown could only grab 12 points from them while giving WSU 16 points off of 23 YSU turnovers. WSU easily controlled the board, 39-18 in the 61-43 win.

The Lady Raiders are traveling to Butler today, Tuesday the 9th for their quarter-final game. They will have a light practice, return to their hotel, shower and then return to watch the men play for the HL Championship. According to Coach Williams, they hope to be inspired by watching the men play hard against Butler. On Wednesday the Lady Raiders will face off at 7pm against the Lady Bulldogs. This will be a tough game for the Raiders, as will the men's game. Playing hard as they did in the second half of the YSU game and limiting their turnovers, WSU does have a chance to make it into the semi of the tournament. But to do that they will need to play focused and tough all 40 minutes of the game.
